Jonah’s Tenth Birthday

I’ve been going through my saved photos, and just realized that I never posted about Jonah’s tenth birthday! Ten years old–that’s hard to imagine. Both Eddy and I were in a slight state of shock that day, but Jonah was a star.

We had a small party at home the weekend before his birthday, with three friends coming over for a sleepover. That was a mixed success, with one of the kids needing to go home in the middle of the night because he was too scared to spend the night. Jonah’s actual birthday fell during the week, so he also cele

brated at school. Apparently the tradition at View Ridge is to bring in popsicles as a snack to celebrate a child’s birthdays; I don’t know if that is just how it is, or if it is because of allergies and so on. So we brought popsicles to school, then opened presents at home, followed by dinner out at the neighborhood Greek restaurant, Jonah’s choice. A good time was had by all.

US Emergency Rooms

Kate went on a field trip to the Center for Wooden Boats with her school. They had a smashing good time–emphasis on the smashing. She ran into a hammer and needed three stitches in her upper lip. Luckily Eddy was on the trip, as was an ER doctor and a licensed registered nurse. This ER visit had nothing on Jonah’s– such a different experience between France and the US!
