Life Without Grandma

Well the house hasn’t self destructed and I haven’t thrown myself in front of a bus. It has only been three days however, since my mother left, so there’s time yet! My mom came to stay for six weeks, and what a huge help she was: holding babies, reading books, holding babies, walking dogs, holding babies…

If there was one good thing about Kate’s hospital stay, it was that we were able to transition slowly into normal life. Eddy had the two boys at home, and I was with Kate, so when Kate and I came home (to a very messy house!) it was an easy (easier) transition. On the other hand, Kate is having to learn what her bouncy chair is for!

The boys asked what we are going to do today, and I in turn asked them what they wanted to do. They said that they wanted to go to grandma’s house! But then they remembered that they can’t go until after Jonah’s birthday. They’re starting to learn about time.

Kate is almost three weeks old (how time flies) and getting so big! I swear she smiled at me yesterday. And she sleeps just like a baby… although whoever invented that expression obviously never had a baby!

The boys are loving having Grandma around, and the arrival of another feminine presence at home obviously has not had a calming effect on them.
