And we decided to take a road trip.

Road trip ready.

Eddy and I love driving long distances together, and the kids are mostly good about it. Here’s the ground we covered Day One–we ended up driving for about 11 hours total.

Road Trip Day One

We stopped at the beach for lunch.

Day One Lunch 2

Day One Lunch

The town where we stopped for lunch had an amazing kite festival.

Around 4pm we started to get tired, so we tried to find a hotel just by driving by, but all the hotels on the coast were booked for some reason! We would have liked to have stopped earlier, but had to keep going. Finally we were able to call ahead and make reservations, and I’m actually quite happy where we ended up.

I think the kids are too.

Graduation Day

Jonah graduated from 5th grade last week and I managed not to sob all over the place and embarrass him- barely. By chance, I was able to match my kleenex to my dress.

My fifth grader is graduating from elementary school today. My Kleenex matches my dress.

Each student shared what he or she wants to do when they grow up. This was printed in the welcome guide and then each teacher read the student’s plan as they crossed the stage and received their diploma. Jonah’s made me cry.

Jonah wanted to wear a suit and get his hair cut for graduation.

So grown up! I cried. (Are you seeing a theme here?)

Grandma cried too.
