To Be Read: Service Included

As part of my New Year’s Resolutions, I am working through my To Be Read shelf and tracking the books I read in an effort to be more mindful about my reading and more critical in my thinking.

I managed to talk the book club into reading Service Included by Phoebe Damrosch, which, conveniently, was on my TBR shelf. Damrosch was still finding herself in New York City when she managed to land a job as a server at Per Se, the highly anticipated East Coast restaurant to be opened by the owner of French Laundry. Like many young, non “career type” professionals in NYC, she ended up becoming a writer rather than a waiter, and has since written for a number of highly recognizable and prestigious publications. I liked this book a lot, but didn’t find it entirely memorable: in other words it won’t make its way into my permanent collection.
